Born in Lisbon in 1964, the artist lives and Works in Lisbon and New York. Miguel Palma creates his works out of industrial and used objects. He uses old machines and artifacts and their parts to integrate them into something new, transferring them a new sense.

Miguel Palma was chosen to integrate the Biennial of New Orleans – Prospect 1 – that will have its first edition in the end of 2008, curated by Dan Cameron.

In 2008, he participates in several group shows, in between “Where are you from?” in the USA, “Parangole” in Spain and “Aesthetic of Terror” to open at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, USA, with curator Manon Slone. In 2007 he had two important solo shows, “Miguel Palma” at the Culturgest in Lisbon, and the other one “Catalytic Paintings” at the Galerie Almine Rech in Paris; he also participated in the group exhibition at Location One, in New York. In 2006 he presented “Ariete” in Lisbon at the gallery Cristina Guerra and the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Miguel Palma is represented in several international collections, e.g. of the Portuguese bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos, the Berardo Collection, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, or the Serralves Foundation in Oporto; in Spain his works are part of the collections of the Galician Centre of Contemporary Art (CGAC), in Santiago de Compostela and the ARCO Foundation; in France, he is represented in the Centre de Création Contemporain (CCC), Tours, in the Florence & Daniel Guerlain Collection, in the FRAC, Rhone Alps and in the FRAC-Centre, Orleans; in Luxemburg in the museum MUDAM.
