Carlos Correia was born in 1975 in Lisbon, where he continues to live and work. He began his career in the beginning of the 21th century, developing a line of investigation that continues through his recent works. He researches other media, the internet and television, or publicity. With their every-day-images, they serve the artists purpose of questioning the presentation of identity.
His most recent solo shows in 2009 were, between others “Moon and something else…” at Pedro Oliveira Gallery, Oporto, and “Pintura (Painting)” at Nogueira da Silva Museum in Braga, Portugal. In 2008 he presented “Project” (curated by Adriano Pedrosa) at Gallery Luísa Strina in São Paulo, Brasil. In 2007, he had several solo shows: at Pedro Oliveira Gallery in Oporto, at Baginski – Gallery / Projects in Lisbon, as well as at exhibition space ArteContempo (curated by Filipa Oliveira and Miguel Amado). From his several participations in group shows, we draw attention to 2009 “Desenhos [Drawings] A-Z. Colecção Madeira Corporate Service” no Museu da Cidade, Lisboa (curated by Adriano Pedrosa), “Pavilhão de Portugal” at Hangart 7 in Salzburg (curated by Lioba Reddeker) and “Opções e Fúturos. Obras da Colecção da Fundação PLMJ” at the City Museum Lisbon (Museu da Cidade, curated by Miguel Amado). In 2008 he participated, between others, in the show “Imágenes Latentes” at Galeria Fucares, Madrid. The work of the artist is found in private and public Portuguese collections, as the PLMJ Foundation, the Ílidio Pinho Foundation, the António de Almeida Foundation and the Teixeira de Freitas Collection, between others. download .pdf file |
